Overview

SowWhat ("the app") is built with your privacy as a priority. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide a personalised gardening experience, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

Data We Collect

Location data SowWhat requests your device location to calculate your local frost dates and fetch live weather data. Your precise GPS coordinates are used only to query the Open-Meteo weather API (a free, GDPR-compliant service) and are not stored on our servers. Location is stored locally on your device only.

Garden and sowing data All garden data — your plants, sowing logs, journal entries, and preferences — is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to any server.

Usage data We do not currently collect analytics or usage data.

Third-Party Services

Open-Meteo (weather data) We use the Open-Meteo API to fetch local weather forecasts. Open-Meteo is a free, open-source, GDPR-compliant service. No personal data is sent to Open-Meteo — only your approximate coordinates to retrieve a local forecast. Open-Meteo privacy policy: open-meteo.com

Apple (payments) Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple's privacy policy applies to all payment transactions. We do not receive or store your payment details.

RevenueCat (subscription management) We use RevenueCat to manage premium subscriptions. RevenueCat may receive an anonymous user identifier to track subscription status. No personally identifiable information is shared. RevenueCat privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. If you delete the app, all locally stored data is removed from your device.

Children's Privacy

SowWhat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete all app data by uninstalling the app or using the "Clear all data" option in the app's Profile settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page.
